An educational seminar was organized in collaboration with Bombay Cambridge School during 7th – 9th July, 2017 in Andheri, Mumbai. The theme was Being a Teacher. Smt. Jayashree Nambiar conducted the workshop along with her two colleagues Smt. Bina Sivaram and Shri Arvind Ranganathan.
The intent of the seminar was to provide an opportunity for teachers to reflect upon their own practice as a teacher and to find their role in education at large. During the seminar, through presentations, viewing of films, readings and discussions there was an effort to uncover some of our assumptions about education, discuss challenges teachers face in their work as teachers and examine teaching as a reflective practice.
110 educators from various schools in Mumbai and a few from Pune participated in the seminar on the first two days. On the third day about 60 teachers from all the five schools of the Bombay Cambridge Gurukula group of schools attended the seminar. Mr. Vikram Patel, Director of the Bombay Cambridge group of schools, is deeply interested in Krishnaji’s teachings. He has now ordered 1000 copies of Letters to Schools and the bilingual (English-Hindi) book On Learning for distributing to their teachers etc.
